a c4 connect group is a place where
we Notice each other’s spiritual growth and
Care when tough things happen
Thank you for stepping up and serving Jesus by hosting or leading a C4 Connect Group! Here you can find everything you need for your group to be successful. We really believe that Connecting Small is God's idea. Lives are transformed in small groups! The Bible gives us a relational discipleship model to follow. We see Jesus and the early church demonstrate that. So that's why we do Connect Groups! They are a place where you and those you connect with can notice each other's spiritual growth and care when tough things happen. Wondering how is this accomplished? That's why you'll go through a three part mini-series for groups called Connecting Small. This will be the perfect way to start your new group off or refresh your group if it has been going for a while. So check out the resources provided for you on this site, along with your Group in a Box, and get off to a great start. Enjoy the ride of seeing lives transformed!
Be sure to pick up your box at one of our C4 Connect Centres at any of our sites. Everything you and your group needs for success is in the box! Read through the C4 Connect Group Guidebook that's inside. It will explain everything in a simple and clear way.
Ready to get started? Be sure to watch the Leader/Host video first. We are confident that it will help your group experience success.
Then dive into the three part mini-series, CONNECTING SMALL, to kick off your group!
Refer to the Sample Agenda on page 12 of your guidebook for how to use the videos and handouts.
Cheering you on! Jesus is with you!
Leading or hosting a group? Your next step is to watch this video.
What makes a group experience successful or unsuccessful? Is there a special formula? You might be asking those questions. In order for something to be successful you have to know what the goal is - so when you get there, together - you can all say, "We did it!" We want you and your group members to have a positive, life-changing experience in your group. So we are sharing with you some critical factors that lead to group success. Take ten minutes to watch this video and download the accompanying handout. Lean in and learn! We are convinced that there are some gems in here that will make all the difference to your group's success. Although this video is directed to those who have stepped up as hosts/leaders, feel free to share it with your group members to give them the 'inside scoop' to success.
Ready to get started? Here are the sessions for your first three weeks together.
We all come to a group with different expectations, and being in a group can be messy at times. So what keeps us going? It all comes down to the why! In Session 1, Lorie Hartshorn (Adult Ministries Pastor) will share with you three biblical reasons why groups can change your life. If we are all clear as to why we do what we do, then we'll stick together through the ups and downs. Because we truly are better together!
One of the goals of our groups is to notice each other's spiritual growth. But how do we do that? In Session 2, Lorie Hartshorn (Adult Ministries Pastor) and Jon Thompson (Teaching and Vision Pastor) will discuss what it looks like to grow spiritually. They will share C4's model of discipleship to enable you and your group members to notice each other's spiritual growth in five really practical ways. We're all in this together!
Tough things are guaranteed to happen! Groups are a place where we share the responsibility of caring for each other. But what does that look like? Do I need to be best friends with everyone in my group, cook their meals, or do their laundry? In Session 3, Lorie Hartshorn (Adult Ministries Pastor) and Dr. Merry Lin (Care Pastor) will discuss what it looks like to care practically. It will walk you through what care is (and is not!) and how we work that out in our community.
Congrats on finishing the Connecting Small series! So what does your group do next? At C4 we believe that what we learn on Sundays needs to be applied and worked out in our everyday lives. So, we provide a study guide and weekly table talk videos that follow our sermon series. This resource enables your group members to dive into the scriptures for themselves with a daily devotional pathway called Walk with Jesus and a place to take sermon notes when you Celebrate Big. It also includes Bible study discussion questions for you and your group to use as you Connect Small. Follow the links provided to find the sermons, table talk videos, and downloadable study guides.
